At about how many months do u normally switch a baby from car seat to stroller?
I am having a major problem finding a stroller/car seat combo I like but that is not the question I don't need recommendation on that, I think I have it figured out, BUT it wont be a travel system I might have 2 different systems, sooooo
Do u move the baby to the stroller when they are able to hold their head up by them selves or when?
Ok well my issue with the travel system is not that i don't want one, that IS what I want. but we recently fell in love with The Baby Jogger, which u can buy an adapter to put most car seats on, so it turns into a travel system YAY. problem is I am dead set on a Chicco car seat and that happens to be one of the car seat that will not fit on the adapter. but I am also dead set on the The Baby Jogger stroller.
I think I figured it out though. I can do a car set on a Baby Trend snap n go, for the same price as the TBJ adapter. so I can use the car seat and baby trend while she is small in in the car seat, then I can purchase TBJ later and wont need the adapter, so I can get what I want and spend the same amount of money. ![]()
I see travel systems that I want but when I try them out like if I was trying to put them in a trunk I can not do it. I am stronger in the legs then I am in the arms, I already have back pain, and the systems are so big and heavy I just can not do it, this is why I am set on The Baby Jogger. I am to short and the bigger ones are such a pain for me.
I want a travel system because I like the idea that if the baby is sleeping I don't have to wake her up to move her to the stroller. plus having a 2 door car, it would just be ALOT easier to just reach in and grab the car seat and easy to put back in, with out leaning over with for a long period trying to get her out of the safety buckle and then when putting her back in. I am all about making life as easy as possible so for ME a travel system is gonna be the way to go. well in til I ran into that problem of my car seat not fitting to the stroller I wanted, but I think I know what I am gonna do about that now.

I never put my son in the carseat in the stroller. Well, I did a few times at first, when he was about a week old, but he hated it. We just reclined the seat on the stroller and put him directly in there. When he was really little I would put receiving blankets on the sides of him to make him feel cozy, but he’s 4 months now and we have the seat a little more upright so he can look around. There’s no rule saying you have to put your baby in the carseat in the stroller, just some like it better because they can be turned around looking at you, which makes them more comfortable. You strap a baby into a stroller, and they recline so they are pretty muich laying down…nothing wrong with putting a newborn in a stroller.
I just moved my daughter whenever she was about 3 months, and she was able to hold her head up well and sit propped up. The main reason was because she started to enjoy looking at the world more, and got madder than hell whenever I would put the carseat in it lol
yeah I would not put the baby in a regular stroller until at least when they are able to sit up and hold they’re head up by themselves for a prolonged amount of time. Im not sure what the issue is with the travel system, but I have an awesome one by Graco and I love it!! My grandmother got it for me at Target. You can also find good ones at . Thats is definitely what I would go with bc it may not seem like it, but carrying around a baby in a car seat is HEAVY!! Good luck!
I don’t understand the point of a travel system and have never used one. Most every full size stroller reclines flat or at least reclines as much as a car seat does. Babies can lay flat. They lay flat in a crib, they lay flat on a changing table… why not a stroller? Put a blanket around their body if you are worried about flopping. They sell head support you can put in any stroller for under $10.
My stroller has a decent suspension and has a nice smooth ride. My daughter just laid down flat and went for a ride at 1 month. No problem.
You can do it from the time they are born, just recline the seat back so they are laying back and not sitting up. My daughter is 3 months and I’m thinking of doing it sooner rather than later since she hates her carseat. I just wish the weather would warm up since I use her bundleme now and would have to use a snowsuit if I switched. Good luck!
some strollers are able to fit a newborn. You just have to check on the stroller you selected and see what the recommended start age is. I too didn’t want to do a travel system because I thought they were so bulky, so I bought the graco safeseat and the snap and go to go with it and I have the maclaren quest stroller…which I haven’t started using yet (baby is 4 m) but it is capable to seat a newborn. most people start using just the stroller when the baby is too heavy to carry inside the infant seat.
I put the car seat in the stroller when my baby is sleeping if he is awake i take him out and put him in my wrap or sling. for my girls i would left them in their car seats on a stroller until around 4 months or so. at about that age they didn’t want to be left in the car seat. even if they were asleep when we got to were we were going they would wake up by the time i got about 10 steps from the car and wanted out of their car seats. so i started to wake them up and put them in a carrier or in their stroller depending on what i was doing.
I understand the 2 door thing i had those when my girls were little. now i have a van so it’s not so much an issue. i found with a 2 car if i didn’t want to take the car seat with me were i was I would pull it out of the base and sit it on the front seat to take my girlies out of it and rebuckle them then put them back on the base and go. that way i wasn’t having to lean over the seat for long periods of time.
i understand the travel system issue too. i love the concept, but hate that the strollers that come with them are so big and heavy.
