I have the adjustable pouch. I'm 5'1" and small in stature, but I opted for the medium. I bought 2 of the pouches since they were on sale, and I do like it because I thought I would be weighed down by the excess tail of the wrap. It has buttons and zippers for adjustment that you have to adjust before you put the baby in, unlike the wrap that you can adjust while you have the baby in there. I like it, although it took some practice to get my 3 month old son used to it.

The material isn't as soft as I thought it would be, but my son doesn't seem to mind. The DVD that comes with the wraps show you mainly how to adjust the wrap, not the pouch. At the end there's like a 2 minute section on the pouch, so I guess the wrap is more superior? I'm not sure, but sometimes I do wish I had the wrap because it appears to be more common.

I think the large might be a bit too big on you, causing a longer tail, but since it's a ring sling that you can easily fix (unlike the pouch that has a limit on how far you can adjust), I think you'll be fine. Just be sure to do something about the long train of a tail you'll be hauling.

I'm sorry but I don't know about the padding. My pouches didn't come with any padding but my baby seems fine in it. Good luck!
