What do you think of the Maya wrap sling?

I'm trying to decide on a good baby carrier. I don't think the baby bjorn is good for my baby's spine so I'm wanting to try a sling. I tried the sling ez in teh store and it seemd so complicated with all the padding and buckling. The maya wrap seems simpler. Do you recommend it?

I loved mine. But, my son was 10 lbs when he was born so we could only use it for 2 months. For nursing it was great because I bought the super extra long and the extra material made a great cover up for hiding.
But, the metal rings can dig into your neck a tiny bit. I never found the best way to avoid that. we bought a sling for my first child that had the padding, and i found that it didn’t work and I never used it. It was too constricting to the baby, they had to be exactly situated for the sling to be comfortable for her. Maya sling was different. Jackson slid around all over the place and the sling held him comfortably in place.
Good luck.
Also, if you get to, buy the video it helps lots.
(I still use the sling to hold my son who is a year old onto my hip while I fold laundry or do other chores. He loves to sit on my hip, but my arms are killing me after about 1 hour. The sling works great.)
** I wanted to add that I am 6 foot and overweight. The maya wrap worked fine for me, I just had to buy a larger one.
Maya Wrap
I would definately recommend a Maya wrap or another unpadded ring sling. They are so simple, and easy to use, and usually mom and baby will both love it. My only other suggestion would be to check out and see if you think you would prefer a wrap or an asian style carrier. Also, visit . If there is a group near you, you can try on a bunch of different carriers without having to buy them.
The Maya Wrap works for most people, but isn’t available premade to fit all body types. For instance, I have a very short torso and overlarge bosum and I just couldn’t get it adjusted right. It also isn’t made to fit very overweight or very tall people, although the design certainly can accomodate. I simply made one based on the Maya Wrap design, but longer and that worked fine.
